The dunes of Guardamar are an 800-hectare natural oasis by the sea. Beaches like El Rebollo are among the most famous in Alicante. The Segura River, one of Spain’s most important rivers, flows into the sea within the municipality. Guardamar del Segura also boasts a marina. The town is known for its pine forest, planted in the early 20th century to halt the advance of mobile coastal dunes that were encroaching on nearby farmland.

The municipality is home to the Torre de los Americanos, a 380-metre-high naval antenna constructed by the United States Navy in 1962, which is the tallest structure in the Iberian Peninsula.
